Meet BoldBody & Why We're Creating A Brand That's All About Self Love

What's going on #BoldFam,

Becky here from BoldBody. I wanted to take a minute to tell you what we're all about, and why we're creating a brand centered around loving your damn self.

Ok so, I'll get right into it. My team and I created BoldBody around the mission to live life out loud and in your own skin. We believe in empowerment through individuality. We believe in loving yourself. We believe in being a little (or a lotta) weird. All of our clothes are designed with these beliefs in mind and want our BoldFam to use them as blank canvas to express themselves. We are here to help you stand out from the status quo and #bebold.

At BoldBody, we aren’t afraid to push boundaries with our designs and prints and find that people crave fun designs and standing out. On top of that, we work hard to maintain price points that are affordable, while maintaining quality that we are proud to stand behind. I am a firm believer that feeling good and looking good shouldn’t have to break the bank. We set out to make quality athletic apparel affordable and accessible to a wide variety of people. We want everyone to feel included and able to live Boldly.

I’ve never been one to blend in. I am loud and simply put, I love people and finding what makes them happy. I love that BoldBody has the ability to make someone’s day simply by proving that life doesn’t have to be taken so seriously. There’s no better feeling of gratification than to see the smiles that our clothes put on peoples faces – be it strangers, friends or acquaintances. I am proud that we stand strongly behind our core beliefs and make each of our products with them in mind. Simply put, if the print doesn’t make us smile, it’s not going into our store.

I dare you to be different, I encourage you to get comfortable being uncomfortable, and fall in love with standing out. You are limited edition and that, my friends, is a beautiful thing.

#BeBold; Love Your Body,

Becky

10 Tips For Owning & Loving Your Own Damn Self

All right boldbabes, here’s the truth: You are perfectly imperfect. Your life is wildly and poetically chaotic. You’re vibrant, unmistakably honest, and always on the move. You’re full of quirks, flaws, and everything in between.
OWN IT. Own it ALL.

Whether you like it or not, you get one shot to live your best lives, and that’s a whole lot easier when you own yourself—every last bit. But some days and in some moments that’s easier said than done.

(How To) Boost Your Mood with Food

(How To) Boost Your Mood with Food

We all know that a well-balanced diet is crucial to our physical health and fitness, but did you know research shows that what we eat has a major effect on our moods, too? As in, there are actual foods that make you happier and calmer just by eating them.

Mood foods if you will.

If you’re feeling down or just kind of “blah,” grab a pen and start a grocery list. The following foods can boost your mood, reduce stress, and potentially fight depression--now that’s a reason to snack!

1. Green Tea

Not only can sipping a mug of green tea soothe your senses and warm you from the inside out, the ingredient L-theanine (an amino acid) actually helps fight anxiety, ward off stress, and encourage relaxation. Making it the perfect drink to start and end your day with!

2. Berries

Blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries not only taste delicious in every single form, they’re incredibly powerful mood-boosters. Their high Vitamin C content helps cope with cortisol levels (a stress hormone), and the naturally occurring flavonoids boost mood, improve memory, and reduce inflammation. Toss a handful on your morning granola, pack a few in your lunchbox, or blend some up in a post-workout smoothie—your taste buds and mood will thank you.

3. Dark Leafy Greens

Nearly half of all Americans aren’t getting enough magnesium—a mineral that does a lot for us—including reducing anxiety. Dark leafy greens like spinach and Swiss chard have tons of magnesium! Which means you can reach your daily vegetable count and boost your mood at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone? How bold, babe!

4. Oily Fish

Turns out your sushi addiction might be a good thing—as long as your munching on oily fish like salmon, tuna, herring, and mackerel. These fatty fish are full of omega-3 fatty acids, a mood-boosting nutrient that our bodies don’t naturally produce. Not to get all geeky, but omega-3s actually alter chemicals in our brains linked with mood, like dopamine and serotonin, making us calmer and happier humans. Anyone down for a sushi run?

5. Dark Chocolate

In case you needed another excuse to eat chocolate, here’s one: Eating it can produce near euphoric moods in some people, aka—it actually makes you happy. Science says so. Not that we needed science to prove what we already knew to be true. Researchers believe this mood-boosting effect is thanks to the antioxidants found in dark chocolate (try to stick to 70% or higher cocoa) which can reduce stress hormones and encourage happiness.

6. Avocados

Try saying the word “avocado” without a smile on your face, it’s nearly impossible. Turns out eating them has the same effect. Avocados are rich in folate (a B vitamin), which helps the body produce and regulate serotonin and dopamine—happy hormones! They’re also full of monounsaturated fatty acids which help keep your heart healthy and strong. By eating avocados regularly, you’re taking care of your heart, boosting your mood, and satisfying your taste buds. For an even greater mood-boosting effect, wear these while you eat them.

7. Pizza

Listen girl gang—sometimes you eat foods for the sheer pleasure of it—not because of health benefits. Pizza is one of those foods that induces happiness just at the thought of it. The flavor combination of warm melty cheese, rich creamy sauce, and golden buttery crust is all but guaranteed to boost your mood. Life is all about balance, and if a few slices here and there make you happy, go for it! And don’t you dare feel bad about it.

Here at Bold Body we’re all about living your best life, positive vibes, and finding happiness in the little things. Sometimes those little things are a handful of berries, a slice of avocado toast, or a square of rich dark chocolate. Whatever you’re snacking on today, be bold and enjoy.

Drop The New Years Resolutions (And Do These 5 Things Instead)

Drop The New Years Resolutions (And Do These 5 Things Instead)

New Year’s Resolutions are so 2018.
2019 is the year of the BOLD. The game changers. The goal crushers. The standouts.

That’s you. 2019 is your year. And getting there starts with small mindset shifts and happy little habits. That’s why we’ve compiled 5 small ways to make your New Year
happier, healthier, and ridiculously rad.

1. Give back

Volunteering your time, money, or talents is a surefire way to help others and send your own happiness skyrocketing. When we’re part of something bigger than ourselves, we feel a sense of connection and camaraderie, which in turn gives us the warm and fuzzies.

Not sure where to start? VolunteerMatch pairs you with opportunities in your community that match your personality, interests, and skills—it’s like a dating site for volunteering—no creepy DMs included.

2. Leap outside your comfort zone.

Try something totally completely 100% new! Grab your gal pals and plan a spontaneous trip somewhere you’ve never been. Sign up for a cycling class even though group fitness makes you feel awko taco. Jump out of a freaking plane (with a parachute of course!) and post the video to social media—instant street cred.

We learn and grow most when we take leaps outside our comfort zones. So whatever that looks like for you—rock climbing, scuba diving, wearing pizza leggings, quitting an awful job—we’re cheering you on. Go get em’ girlfriend.

3. Find your fit.

There are hundreds of ways to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle; the key is finding one that fits you. If you hate running but love dancing, skip the treadmill and head for a hip-hop fitness class. If weights are your thing and you can’t be bothered with the dang elliptical, don’t force it! Fitness is whatever gets your blood flowing and body moving—make it a point to find a routine you actually enjoy this year—odds are you’ll find it lots easier to stick to.

Pro tip: Don’t go it alone. Grab a friend and vow to be each other’s accountability partners. Send each other encouraging texts throughout the day and check in on each other’s progress each week. Better yet—take a class together or get a sweat sesh in at the same time—friends that sweat together stay together.

4. Tamp out toxicity.

Grab a pen and paper and ask yourself this question: what/who in your life isn’t adding joy or light? Your list could include names of friends, co-workers, or family members, or it might be your job, a few bad habits, or even where you live.
With your list in hand, make a plan to tamp them all out, let them all go.

Slowly separate yourself from absolutely anything that draws your energy out and exhausts you of your light. Fill their empty spaces with positive people, energizing places, and meaningful moments. You’d be surprised that goals you can tackle when you release the deadweight from your ankles.

5. Connect.

Relationships are what make life worth living. This year, instead of getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forgetting to connect, make it a point to pick up the phone or plan a coffee date with someone you care about each week.

Send your grandma a handwritten card out of the blue just because. Call your dad and let him tell you all about his golf game and his new favorite Netflix show (dads watch the weirdest things). Plan a date night with the girls and have them all over for wine, movies, and endless gabbing. When you make it a habit to show the ones you care most about just how important they are to you, life gets a little warmer and a whole lot happier.

With these small mindset shifts and healthy habits, you’re sure to make 2019 the
best year yet. Happiness is all about tiny little moments, thoughts, and actions that
come together to create this beautiful thing called life—now go out there and live it!
